Muniz Sodré é o primeiro titular da Cátedra Otavio Frias Filho“Uma indagação multiforme sobre a existência e consistência do povo brasileiro.” Essa será a principal questão a ser analisada no ciclo de palestras que o sociólogo Muniz Sodré coordenará na Cátedra Otavio Frias Filho como primeiro titular desse novo posto de pesquisa do IEA, resultante de convênio entre a USP e o jornal Folha de S.Paulo. Autor de 45 livros (três deles de ficção) e considerado o mais importante pesquisador de comunicação no país, Sodré é professor emérito e um dos fundadores da Escola de Comunicação da Universidade Federal do Rio de Janeiro. No dia 9 de setembro, às 15h, ele participará do evento Admiráveis Pensamentos Novos, promovido pela Cátedra Oscar Sala, também sediada no IEA. Veja mais na Agenda, ao final deste boletim.	Muniz Sodré is the first holder of the Otavio Frias Filho Chair«A multiform inquiry about the existence and consistency of the Brazilian people.» This will be the main issue to be analyzed in the cycle of lectures that sociologist Muniz Sodré will coordinate in the Otavio Frias Filho Chair as first holder of this new research initiative at the IEA, resulting from an agreement between USP and the newspaper «Folha de S.Paulo.» Author of 45 books, including three fiction books, and considered the most important communication researcher in the country, Sodré is one of the founders of the School of Communication at the Federal University of Rio de Janeiro, from which he is a professor emeritus.Full story available in Portuguese only. Cátedra de Educação Básica é renomeada em homenagem a Alfredo BosiA Cátedra de Educação Básica, parceria entre o IEA e o Itaú Social, a partir de agora se chama Cátedra Alfredo Bosi de Educação Básica, em homenagem ao professor e historiador de literatura brasileira morto em abril. A renomeação foi anunciada pela coordenadora geral da cátedra, Roseli de Deus Lopes, vice-diretora do IEA, no evento “Presença de Alfredo Bosi”, realizado na última semana de agosto. Na ocasião, ela destacou a afinidade de Bosi com a temática da cátedra e a importância dele para a educação no país.	Chair of Basic Education is renamed in honor of Alfredo BosiThe Chair of Basic Education, a partnership between the IEA and Itaú Social, will henceforth be called Alfredo Bosi Chair of Basic Education in honor of the professor and historian of Brazilian literature who died in April. The reappointment was announced by the general coordinator of the Chair and deputy director of the Institute, Roseli de Deus Lopes, at the event «Alfredo Bosi’s Presence,» held in the last week of August. Meio ambiente e patrimônio cultural são destaques da revista Estudos Avançados 102«Energia e Ambiente», «Híbridos do Conhecimento» e «Espaços Religiosos» são os dossiês da nova edição (102) da revista Estudos Avançados, cuja edição digital já está disponível para download gratuito na plataforma de periódicos online SciELO. Entre os temas abordados pelos 16 artigos da edição figuram: monitoramento da qualidade do ar no Brasil, produção de energia eólica, biodiversidade, adaptação às mudanças climáticas, governança da água, patrimônio jesuítico entre Rio de Janeiro e São Paulo e lugares do catolicismo negro na capital paulista no século 19.	Environment and cultural heritage are the highlights of «Estudos Avançados» #102«Energy and Environment,» «Hybrids of Knowledge,» and «Religious Spaces» are the dossiers of the latest issue of IEA’s journal, whose digital edition is now available for free download on the online platform SciELO. O golpe militar de 64 e suas consequências foram tema da revista Estudos Avançados 80, em 2014Há sete anos, quando o golpe político-militar completava meio século, o então editor da revista Alfredo Bosi idealizou uma edição especial para rememorar o momento que, para ele, integra a memória pessoal e coletiva de alguns, mas figura apenas como fato histórico para outros. «Daí a oportunidade de um dossiê que reconstitua o evento e esclareça as gerações jovens e as já entradas na idade madura», destacou no editorial. São 13 textos em diferentes formatos sobre o contexto político, social e econômico em que seu deu o golpe de 64, bem como sobre a resistência, a censura, a produção artística e a atuação da imprensa nacional e internacional em relação ao regime imposto pelos militares à época. The military coup of 1964 and its aftermath were the subject of «Estudos Avançados» #80 in 2014Seven years ago, when the political-military coup in Brazil completed 50 years, the then editor of the journal «Estudos Avançados,» Alfredo Bosi, devised a special issue to recall the moment that, for him, is part of the personal and collective memory of some but appears only as a historical fact for others. «Hence the opportunity for a dossier that reconstitutes the event and enlightens the younger generations and those already at mature age,» he highlighted in the editorial. There were 13 texts of different formats on the political, social, and economic context in which the coup took place, as well as on resistance, censorship, artistic production, and the performance of the national and international press in relation to the regime imposed by the military.
