Dear Friends and Colleagues,
We are pleased to announce that we are now accepting applications for the
sixth cohort in our flagship Master of Arts degree program, Media Design,
for fall 2021.
This is an especially exciting year for our graduate studies program: after
five successful years and working with over 65 students, we?re entering our
6th year with the potential to expand the size and scope of our cohort.
With our pivot to a more explicit design focus, we have been able to
incorporate exciting additions to the curriculum around participatory and
experience design, public engagement, and multimedia production.
Our program, now offered as intensive 12-month program or a full 2-year
program, is anchored around applied thesis projects. These creative works,
created in partnership with civic institutions ranging from the Mayor?s
Office of New Urban Mechanics to the UN, Red Cross, iCivics, and the Boston
Public Library, explore a wide range of approaches to the design of civic
media, and bring to life the theories and practices that students explore
in coursework throughout the year. In 2020 our cohort is working with local

We?re seeking interdisciplinary minded students and recent graduates who
are scholars, entrepreneurs, socially engaged artists, civic leaders, and
creative technologists to apply. We would love your help reaching anyone
who is looking to refine their skills and position themselves more strongly
in the field of civic media.

The deadline for priority decision is March 1st, 2021. Applications will be
