Great news for cyber security in the EU: The European Parliament successfully votes through the Network & Information Security (NIS) directive
Following the successful vote on the NIS directive on cyber security on 13 March in Strasbourg, Vice President Neelie Kroes said: «This vote today is very positive news for European citizens, and I would like to thank the Rapporteur, Andreas Schwab, for his hard and efficient work, as well as everyone who has worked on this report. Member States need to be ready to address cyber attacks. Today there are gaps in some countries and we need to fill them.»

From lab to market: 3 research projects that led to high-tech spin-offs
Research in the next generation of technologies is key for Europe’s competitiveness. This is why EUR 2.7 billion will be invested in Future and Emerging Technologies (FET) under the new research programme Horizon 2020 (2014-2020). This represents a nearly threefold increase in budget compared to the previous research programme, FP7. FET actions are part of the Excellent science pillar of Horizon 2020.
