(30 August 2013) The Commission is asking for help in drawing up guidance and practical advice for boosting the re-use of weather data, traffic data, publicly funded research data, statistics, digitised books, and other types of public sector information (PSI).

Regulatory mess hurting broadband investment: consumers and businesses stuck in slow lane
(30 August 2013) Today, telecoms companies face different charges and regulatory systems from country to country in the EU, despite years of Commission efforts to smooth out these differences. Overall, these problems make companies reluctant to invest large sums in new high-speed networks, while limiting competition by making it difficult for companies to enter new markets based on an existing business model.

OpenChina-ICT Final Conference – Strengthening Cooperation in ICT Research between Europe and China

The Conference will focus on EU-China ICT cooperation opportunities and will build upon the results of the OpenChina-ICT project. Tackling societal challenges with Social Collective Intelligence and ICT

The conference aims to present the Social-IST main project outcomes (namely the White Paper on Research Challenges in Social Collective Intelligence and the Roadmap for FET Initiatives in Social Collective Intelligence) and to promote an open dialogue on how a new form of ICT can help us build a smarter society. The event will bring together more than 20 speakers, who will debate with the public scientific challenges brought forward by Social Collective Intelligence, its impact on various application domains and the community support needed to foster its development.
