XIV International Conference on Human-Computer Interaction
Presentation

Interacción 2013 is an international conference aiming at providing recent advances in the area of Human-Computer Interaction in both academia and industry. This conference will present new methodologies and tools for the creation and evaluation of user interfaces, as well as novel methods and devices to interact with users in industrial and experimental areas. The Spanish Association for Human-Computer Interaction (AIPO; www.aipo.es) has been organizing this conference since 2000 (Granada). It has been successively held in Salamanca (2001), Leganés (2002), Vigo (2003), Lleida (2004), Granada (2005), Puertollano (2006), Zaragoza (2007), Albacete (2008), Barcelona (2009), Valencia (2010), Lisbon (2011), Elche (2012), and now in its fourteenth edition, in Madrid being part of the CEDI 2013 (Spanish Computer Science Conference). Interacción 2013 is also under the Spanish ACM-SIGCHI annual activities.

Contributions

Contributions are expected to be related to the topics of interest of the conference. The conference encourages contributions from both academic and industry. They must be original works with a significant contribution to the field of Human-Computer Interaction. The types of contributions to consider are:

  • Long papers (8 pages). Long papers should present a work with a certain degree of maturity. They must clearly identify the original contribution, contrasting it with previous work in the area and presenting the evaluation results if applicable.
  • Short papers (4 pages). Short papers should present work and developments in progress with novel and promising expected results.
  • Professional experiences and Case Studies (4 pages). They are the way to present developed applications and real projects from the industry or public administration. Therefore, they are professional contributions of interest to HCI community due to the results, methods or techniques used.
  • Posters and Demos (2 pages). Works presented under this category involve technology demonstrations, innovations or applications. Their contribution must be clearly identified.

Other contributions

As an effort to spread the work of researchers and industry professionals within the Human-Computer Interaction scope the following categories will be considered as well:

  • Doctoral Consortium (4 pages). This is for Ph.D. students to present the current status of their work. The audience of the Doctoral Consortium will be made ofattendees to the conference together with HCI experts. Thus, presenters can receive contributions to guide and improve they research.
  • Workshops (2 pages). Anyone interested in the organization of a workshop focused on a topic of interest can apply. Applicants must submit a proposal including: title, a brief description, keywords, organizing and program committees including the group of collaborators.

Submission instructions

Contributions may be written in Spanish and English. All contributions must follow the ACM proceedings style, available through the ACM document template page (http://www.acm.org/sigs/publications/proceedings-templates). Contributions must be submitted using the EasyChair conference system: (https://www.easychair.org/conferences?conf=interaccion2013).
Interacción 2013 is a double-blind peer-reviewed conference, so please remove all personal identifiable information from the paper at the first submission. Before publication, submitted papers will be reviewed through an anonymous peer review system including at least three reviewers of our conference program. The results of the review will be then processed by at least one anonymous meta-reviewer that will accept or reject each submission according to the reviewers’ comments
Accepted papers will appear in the conference proceedings published by CEDI as a volume with ISBN. Additionally, and after the conference, best contributions will be considered for an extended version to be published in various special issues of different journals including international ones indexed by the JCR index.
As in previous editions, authors of the best conference papers will receive the Jesus Lorés Award. The selection of the best article will be based on the review process and presentation at the conference.
