I would say, in terms of the tetrad, that the Illuminator is one of things
that the Internet flips into – the Illuminator enhances the real, live,
physical moment; obsolesces virtuality, retrieves the in-person location,
and flips into … well, a little too soon to tell.
As such, the Illuminator is another example, along with Foursquare, of the
resurgence of physical reality and location in the online world. This is
one of the central themes of the second edition of New New Media – which,
as fate would have it, is being published this month.
