The role and added value of The Communication Initiative’s Drum Beat network (88,000 joined and growing) is to provide a platform through which people engaged in development action can quickly both share and access the knowledge you require and the networks, ideas and analysis that are relevant to your needs and context. It is primarily a South-South process.
To mitigate information overload we summarise the knowledge shard by the network and link to your full knowledge. To facilitate critical review we have a range of interactive processes. To support development conversations we have communities of practice. (There are 1 million user sessions per year)
Our priority is to get people to access your knowledge and ideas, including your Facebook pages and twitter feeds. For that reason we have not prioritized our own Facebook page and twitter feed. But we have been encouraged to commence these as a further support to your goals and strategies. They are now up and running in their initial form!
