As many of you know, I am particularly interested in learning how Internet affects our wellbeing and as guest editor for Computers in Human Behavior, I am putting together a special issue onYouth, Internet and Wellbeing. Recently the news throughout the world has been filled with the effects of social networks on children and young people- a boy recently committed suicide after being bullied on Facebook and another child was a victim of a pedophile whom he had met in a chatroom designed for kids. We also know that the Internet empowers kids. They feel more equal on the net, they can express themselves and they can easily get support from similar others.
In short- there is no doubt that the Internet is extremely influential on kids.
For this special issue I aim to bring together the leading scholars in the field from all over the world to cover topics on this important issue. The crucial topics I came up with include : Analyzing kids’ behavior on social net works; exposure of kids to pornography; The changes in the concept of friendship in the net era,; Kids and Digital literacy; clinical aspects of net bullying; Behavioral impact of exposure to violent net games; I’m the media; Kids self actualization on the net; Introverted kids and social interactions on the net.
