The fourth World Electronic Media Forum (WEMF4) will be hosted by Organizacion de Telecomunicaciones Iberoamericanas (OTI) – a member of the World Broadcasting Unions (WBU) – in Mexico City in November 11, 12 and 13, 2009
The World Electronic Media Forums are an initiative of the WBU that started with WEMF1 in Geneva in 2003, followed by WEMF2 in Tunis in 2005 and WEMF3 in Kuala Lumpur in 2007.
The first two WEMFs were held as side events of the World Summit on the Information Society (WSIS), after which they were spun off to become a biannual event providing an opportunity for broadcast executives, journalists, academics, visionaries and decision makers from around the world and discuss the changes that are taking place in the global information society and the role of the electronic media in the dissemination of knowledge, business engagement and other aspects of society
