2973 Australia, Australian National Centre, two Visiting Fellows of Latin American Studies at the Australian National University (ANU) in 2010 for Latin American Studies

The Australian National Centre for Latin American Studies (ANCLAS) is seeking applications for two Visiting Fellows of Latin American Studies at the Australian National University (ANU) in 2010. The ANU is Australia’s leading research university and is located in Canberra, Australia’s capital city. The Visiting Fellowship is part of the ANU and ANCLAS’s effort to expand and deepen the University’s commitment to Latin American Studies.

You will be a senior scholar with a distinguished record of research and publication in relation to Latin America in the one of the fields of Latin American Political Science, History, Political Economy, Sociology, Literature, Linguistics or Cultural Studies.

You will have a PhD or equivalent in one of these fields.

You will not be required to teach a course. However, it is expected that you will deliver at least three public lectures in the ANCLAS seminar program at the ANU and will tour three other major Australian cities (including Melbourne, Sydney, Brisbane, Adelaide) and present these or other lectures there. You must be able to deliver these lectures in English.

The first Visiting Fellowship is available from March to July, 2010 and the second is available from July to November 2010. The exact dates are flexible.

ANCLAS will provide you with one return international airfare to Canberra, accommodation in a two-bedroom apartment on or near campus and will fund further cost of living expenses for the period of the Fellowship up to a limit of US$5000. It will also fund your travel and accommodation expenses to other Australian cities.
