It is now possible to register online for the 2009 conference of the American Society for Cybernetics, which will be held on March 12-15, 2009, in Olympia, Washington. The conference title is «Cybernetics Talk Dance Anticommunication». Registration, except for certain students who have already made other arrangements, will be done online via the ACTEVA service, which is up and running at the following web address:

The rates are as follows: members $110, retired persons $50, students $35. Non-member registration is $190 which is simply the member rate plus the $80 dues for members. (This lower rate for membership is carried over from 2008 until January 31, 2009 when it goes up to $100.)
The 2009 ASC Conference invites a variety of contributions including and not limited to:
* papers
* performances
* displays
* symposia
* workshops
* panels
*hosted conversations
The keynote speakers as of this writing are expected to be Lou Kauffman (cybernetician and mathematician), Tom Moritz (Associate Director of Research at the Getty Institute) and William Fox (novelist).
Performances of music, theater and poetry that manifest a concern for or reflections on imagined and existing systems, their composition, decay, and development, will be held every evening.
Suggestions for paper presentations, panel topics, or guided conversations are welcome, and should be sent to conference organizer Arun Chandra. The deadline for proposals is Monday, February 1, 2009.

The 2009 conference’s day events will be held at the Olympia Community Center. Evening events, including the keynote addresses, will take place at The Evergreen State College and at the Washington Performing Arts Center.
Attendees will be housed at the Governor Hotel (Olympia), 6 blocks from the Olympia Community Center (where the conference day events will be held). A block of 50 rooms has been held for attendees at the Governor Hotel. Single rooms are $89 per night, and double rooms are $99 per night.
