Panopto Launches Hosted Lecture Capture System
Panopto this week announced a new software as a service (SaaS) version of its lecture capture system, CourseCast. Dubbed CourseCast Hosted, the new edition is designed for educational institutions to capture classroom presentations without the need to invest in the kind of infrastructure generally associated with lecture capture systems.
Microsoft To Add Smooth Streaming in IIS7
Web sites will be able to get improved bandwidth management for streaming media using a new extension to the Microsoft Internet Information Services 7.0 (IIS7) Web server. The extension, earlier this month, is called «IIS Smooth Streaming.»
Agile Solution Provider Rolls Out Java SDK
Agile project management tools provider VersionOne has updated its V1: Agile Enterprise product to include a Java software development kit (Java SDK). The 8.3 version, now available, comes with an extensible API, object model libraries, source code, documentation and sample applications for Java jocks.
Salem CC To Enhance Self Service with Unified Digital Campus
Salem Community College in Carneys Point, NJ has selected SunGard Higher Education’s PowerCampus Unified Digital Campus (UDC) to replace its existing campus administrative system.
Parallels Desktop 4.0 Get Performance Boost, DirectX 9.0 Support
Parallels has released Parallels Desktop 4.0, an update to the company’s desktop virtualization solution for Mac OS X. The new version adds more than 50 new features, including support for DirectX 9.0 and significant performance improvements.
Brandon U To Automate Employment Processes with EmpCenter
Brandon University in Brandon, Manitoba has licensed EmpCenter for Higher Education from WorkForce Software. The software automates the interactions that employees have with their employer.
SMobile Releases Antivirus To Protect Google Android Phones
SMobile Systems has released an antivirus program for phones running Android, the Google-developed operating system. The company already offers similar solutions for BlackBerry, Windows Mobile, Symbian, Palm, and iPhone devices.
