Washington U Healthcare Researchers Turn to Virtual Storage
The Center for Clinical Imaging Research (CCIR) within Mallinckrodt Institute of Radiology at Washington University’s School of Medicine in St. Louis is using BlueArc’s Titan to provide back-end storage for a VMware virtual server environment serving the Center’s bioimaging research. CCIR is using Titan as the backend for 60-plus VMware ESX virtual machines.
Cornell Hardens Campus Network with Gigabit Wireless Radio Links
Cornell University has deployed several gigabit wireless radio links from BridgeWave Communications as part of its network hardening strategy.
BYU-Idaho Turns to Web-based Facilities Management System
Brigham Young University – Idaho is partnering with AxisPointe to employ a work order system to better allocate resources and personnel for facilities management.
U Pittsburgh Turns to Verizon Business for Automated Notification Services
The University of Pittsburgh has signed on for Verizon Notification Services to communicate to the campus community.
Universities Turn to Oracle for Web-based Services
DePaul University, George Fox University, and Australia’s University of Ballarat, along with a dozen other colleges and universities, have gone public with recent implementations or upgrades of Oracle software.
Delgado CC Expands Outsourced Support Agreement with Presidium Learning
Delgado Community College (DCC) will be expanding its relationship with Presidium Learning for outsourced support for IT services, financial aid, the bursar’s office, and registration. The new approach to servicing campus constituents, named DCCLive!, will provide students, faculty and staff a single place to turn with questions and issues about services provided by these departments.
Security Concerns May Slow Cloud Computing Adoption
Speaking about his company’s «Digital Disruptions» report released this past month, Computer Sciences Corp.’s Chief Innovation Officer Lem Lasher said questions over data security will be a major impediment to enterprise adoption of cloud computing.
