The European Commission has launched two Horizon Prizes to reward innovators who find groundbreaking solutions in digital technologies. Two prizes of EUR 500,000 are on offer for breaking the optical transmission barriers and collaborative spectrum sharing, through the EU’s Horizon 2020 Framework Programme for Research and Innovation.

European Commission started another investigation over German attempt to introduce fixed termination rates contrary to EU telecom rules
The European Commission has opened an in-depth investigation over the German telecoms regulator (BNetzA) pricing of fixed termination rates (FTRs) for the alternative operators. According to the Commission, the German proposal does not follow the EU recommended approach for the calculation of FTRs, which leads to competition and consumer harm.
