My name is Garth Japhet and I am the CEO of Heartlines in South Africa http://www.heartlines.org.za/default.asp and the For Good Social Networking process http://www.forgood.co.za/Pages/Home.aspx as well as being Chair of The CI Partners group – http://www.comminit.com/global/content/communication-initiative-partners
A central principle for social change, communication for development and media development is that public and private debate, dialogue and conversation are essential for positive, long term change on the priority development issues that we all seek to address. Those «conversations» are effective when a range of voices are supported, heard, listened to and acted upon.
The same principle applies to policy and strategy development in local, national and international development. We require extensive dialogue with a range of voices and perspectives. The policy blogs space is designed as one element of that process. It provides an opportunity for your voice to be shared with a very extensive and important network.
The Communication Initiative communication for development, media development and social change network is now 88,000 strong with most key local, national and international development people and organizations registered and involved. It is freely available to anyone anywhere. In the past 12 months there have been over 1 million user sessions from 190 countries. So, there is a very significant and relevant audience for your views and opinions.
Can we please encourage you to write and publish your blogs in The Communication Initiative’s newly re-designed policy blogging space at http://www.comminit.com/policy-blogs
We are most grateful to our fellow partner BBC Media Action – http://www.bbc.co.uk/mediaaction/ for supporting this blogging space as part of their Partnership involvement.
