Figure/Ground’s latest interview is with John Durham Peters – A. Craig
Baird professor of Communication Studies at the University of Iowa. Dr.
Peters received a Ph.D. in Communication Theory and Research from Stanford
University in 1986 and is the author of the magisterial *Speaking into the
Air: A History of the Idea of Communication* and, more recently, *Courting
the Abyss: Free Speech and the Liberal Tradition*. He has written numerous
articles on the history and philosophy of communication.
