You are cordially invited to
McLuhan: Social Media Between Faith and Culture
An International Conferenceat St. Michael’s College in the University of Toronto
Date of conference: September 21 (Friday) – 22 (Saturday), 2012
Place of conference: Charbonnel Lounge, Elmsley Hall – 81 St Mary Street
Registration: Gratis
Opening Keynote speaker: Prof. Elena Lamberti
Closing keynote speaker: Dr. Eric McLuhan
The purpose of this conference is to consider the work of Marshall McLuhan vis-à-vis religious thought. Marshall McLuhan was a devoted Roman Catholic who embraced and studied diverse cultures and religions in formulating his theory of social media. In this conference we plan to revisit some well-known aspects of his work, viewing them in the context of the relationship between faith and culture, and to call attention to less familiar aspects of his thought that are directly focused on these themes.
