Georgetown Not Looking So Good: Partisan Strife in Guyana

The recent protests and resulting violence in Guyana’s second largest city, Linden, over an increase in electricity prices in the region became incredibly partisan, pitting the Indo-Guyanese favored ruling party the PPP/C against the Afro-Guyanese APNU. Although a pact was signed between Lindenese leaders and the national government and CARICOM will be conducting a full investigation, the escalated tensions between the two parties remains.

Violence in Syria Increases While Brazil Takes a Policy of Silence

Brazil has taken a timid position on the Syrian crisis for far too long. It is time for Brazil to start taking a more diplomatic and tougher stance with the Syrian regime.
