Public Security in El Salvador: The Slide Towards Re-Militarization

Attempts to address public security problems by the Salvadoran government has meant that the authorities are looking to retired and other senior military officers. Any attempt to reestablish security in the Pacific Central American nation would however require a collaborative effort between civilian and military leaders. This would mean stepping away from the «heavy-handed» policies that the goverment employed in the past.
