Tenure-TrackPosition in Film Studies
The University of Southern Maine’s Department ofCommunication and Media Studies invites applications for a tenure-track position in film studies to begin September 2012. The faculty member will have teaching and research specialization in film studies as well as a background in communication. Research areas may include filmhistory, film and rhetoric, global cinema, and digital and imaging theories. The faculty member will also assist inthe development of a multidisciplinary film studies major within the college. Besides teaching film studies courses, the position includes teaching undergraduate foundational courses in communication that are supportive of the departments two majors in communication and media studies. This position also requires undergraduate student advisingand a commitment of service to the department, college, and university.
Required qualifications include a Ph.D. in Communication orrelated field with a specialization in film studies by time of appointment. The successful candidate will havestrong evidence of college teaching. The University of Southern Maine has an institution wide commitment to inclusion, diversity, multiculturalism, and community.
