Call for Entries

The Universidad Anáhuac México Norte, through its Escuela de Comunicación and the Programa de Liderazgo CREA calls all national and foreign university students to participate in the first edition of Festival Internacional de Cine Universitario Lanterna (Lanterna International Short Film Festival), which will take place at the Universidad Anáhuac México Norte facilities from April the 19^th to the 22^th 2010, at Huixquilucan, State of Mexico, Mexico.

Those interested are summoned to participate in any of the next categories, following the Terms and Conditions established for each one:

SHORT FILM

Categories: Fiction, Animation, Experimental and Documentary.

Length: From 2 up to 30 minutes.

Delivery Deadline (Only for foreign students): Friday March 19^th 2010

CINEMINUTO

Categories: Fiction, Animation and Experimental.

Length: 1 min. maximum.

Delivery Deadline (Only for foreign students): Friday March 19^th 2010

TERMS AND CONDITIONS:

1. All present students and graduates (with a limit of one year) from all universities, public or private can participate. The contestants must be in the range of age between 18 and 25 years, and should have not participated yet on any professional media.
2. The categories considered for entries and awards are those stipulated here: Fiction, Animation, Experimental, Documentary and CINEMINUTO.
3. The techniques and subjects are free, considering essential the respect to human dignity and integrity values.
4. The contestants can enter the amount of projects they wish, as long as they were not made before January 1^st 2009.
5. Every entered material must be delivered under the rules established for each category.
6. In order to enter the projects, the contestant must fill in the Entry Form following the instructions published on the Festival Internacional de Cine Universitario Lanterna’s web page: http://www.anahuac.mx/lanterna in the section named ENTRIES.
7. Once the Entry Form has been completely filled in, it must be printed and sent to the university, inside an envelope with the following annexes:  3 copies of the short film on DVD format. A CD with the following information should also be delivered: 3 stills of the film, 2 pictures of the director and producer, a synopsis of the film and a quick reference of the technical data.
8. The envelope with de audiovisual and technical data must be addressed to: Lic. Gerardo Morán Castellot.  Facultad de Comunicación de la Universidad Anáhuac México Norte. Av. Universidad Anáhuac #46. Col. Lomas Anáhuac, Huixquilucan, Estado de México, Mexico. Postal Code.52786.
9. All projects must be labeled with the name of the contestant and of the work piece, the address, phone number, and e-mail address of the contestant(s).
10. The deadline considered for the delivery and entry of all foreign projects is Friday April 9^th 2010. All projects received before Friday April 26^th will be considered for the content of the Festival’s Booklet.
11. The Selection Committee will be appointed by the Organization Committee of the Festival, and will be on charge of programming the selected short films.
12. The official language of all projects should be Spanish; otherwise the visual material must be subtitled.
13. The contestants must have on their possession the rights of every material included in their projects, such as music, voices, script, etc.
14. The Universidad Anáhuac México Norte does not take any responsibility in case any of the contestants break the legal rules of originality and ownership over the rights of the material. In case this does happen, the contestant must be charged legal responsible and should indemnify the original creators for the damage committed.
15. Individual and Group participation are allowed.
16. The Festival Internacional de Cine Universitario Lanterna Official Selection will be chosen by a Selection Committee. The winners will be selected by an appointed Jury. Those decisions are not appealable.
17. Once delivered, the contestants automatically transfer the rights over the audiovisual project to Universidad Anáhuac México Norte, during the time the Festival Internacional de Cine Universitario Lanterna takes place.
18. The Organization of the Festival Internacional de Cine Universitario Lanterna will take into its property the original copy of the audiovisual project for cultural broadcasting purposes. In case the contestant wants the rest of the copies back, he or she should come and ask for it at the Faculty of Communication principal’s office of the Universidad Anáhuac México Norte.
19. Any situation that is not contemplated in this Call must be solved by the Organization Committee and Jury of the Festival Internacional de Cine Universitario Lanterna.
20. The contestants authorize the Festival Internacional de Cine Universitario Lanterna the use of the audiovisual material included on the short film delivered, for cultural broadcasting purposes, without any previous acknowledgement.
21. In case the audiovisual project does not fully cover all of the Terms and Conditions previously established, the contestant will automatically be disqualified.
22. The present document is edited in Spanish and English. Under the existence of any doubt, the Spanish edition is considered as the official and correct one.

Awards.

1. The awards will be given to the winners chosen by the jury, at the Closing Ceremony of the Festival Internacional de Cine Universitario Lanterna, under the next categories:
   1. Premio Lanterna for the Best Short Film
   2. Best Fiction Short Film
   3. Best Animated Short Film
   4. Best Documentary Short Film
   5. Best Experimental Short Film
   6. Best Director
   7. Best Script
   8. Best Cinematography
   9. Best Art Direction
   10. Best Performance by a Female Actor
   11. Best Performance by a Male Actor
   12. Best Editing
   13. Best Sound Mixing
   14. Audience Award
2. The prizes will be announced in the Festival webpage (www.anahuac.mx/lanterna) a week before the week of the Festival.
